What a great individual effort by Rafael for the equalizer. It's a pity the squirrels didn't take the 3 points though. What has happened with Dudu? Has he lived up to his nickname???

Dudu has been playing and scoring in all the reserve and training games, but when it comes to the first team it looks as though for the time being Jang prefers a combination of Rafael and one of the Japanese forwards.

I suppose Jang would say that as soon as a player arrives at the club they become just another option within the squad from which he as coach can select, but given that Dudu was top scorer in the K-League last year he can't have been cheap. Indeed, our Anonymous commenting friend suggested a fee of $3m. Personally I don't think that Jang really knows what his best attacking line-up is.

As regards the JEF game, it was great to see Ichikawa finally come back into the team although conversely Ishihara - who previously seemed to be rated as the best striker at the club - wasn't even a substitute. Very odd.

I agree the selections with this manager continue to boggle me. I was there for Dudu's first avaailable home match and he started!?!? This is strange as he had just joined the team. Usually a bit of time is needed before a player can jump in the first team. Apparently the opposite has happened to poor Dudu and hes found himself on the bench. I have watched those reserve highlights and he partnered well with Rafael. I do also rate Ishihara highly I like the pace he can bring.. too bad Omiya were playing route 1 long ball when I was there... $3 Million seems a bit steep over here that sort of salary would cost you a designated player slot as your best player.

A few things about Dudu's transfer.

First, Anonymous - it would be good to know where you get your information from about the $3m, could you say anything about that?

Second, Daniel - remember that the designated player thing doesn't exist in the J-League, although even so you can indeed be sure that Dudu will be on one of the higher salaries at the club.

Third, from what I can gather about Tombense it is kind of inaccurate to say that Dudu and Rafael have joined from a third division club. What seems clear is that a major function of Tombense is simply as an agency through which sales of players are arranged. It looks as though both Dudu and Rafael signed for Tombense solely on that basis; neither of them seem to have played for the team.
