Vote Now - New GGOA Readers' Survey
After last Sunday's J1 fixtures included both disastrous late defeat by Sanfrecce Hiroshima for Ardija and an astonishing win by a clearly motivated Kashiwa Reysol side, it's clear that Jang Wae Ryong's Squirrels are not guaranteed J1 football in 2010. Omiya's three remaining games are away at Montedio Yamagata and rounding off the season at relegated Oita Trinita - with a crunch Noda Line derby at home to Reysol sandwiched inbetween.
Kashiwa travel to Albirex Niigata and then conclude 2009 at home to title-chasing Kawasaki Frontale, but after three straight defeats they crushed Shimizu S-Pulse at the weekend. So with a six-point gap and only three games to play, can the Sun Kings catch up? Or are Omiya safe for another year? In the new GGOA readers' survey on the right-hand side of this page, you can vote now and let us know what you think ahead of the tightest relegation battle since, ooh, the last one, probably.

I think we'll be ok, just about. The depressing thing is, I don't expect to be having a different conversation this time next year.
