One In, One Out

After weeks of speculation, it's finally been confirmed that Yosuke Kataoka has left Ardija for Kyoto Sanga. The 27-year-old joined Omiya in 2005 from Kokushikan University and since then has played for the Squirrels either as a central defender or in a defensive midfield role. His most successful campaign came in 2009 when he played alongside Mato Neretljak in the middle of the Ardija back four. Kataoka is seemingly regarded by Sanga as a replacement for the departing Yuto Sato.

Meanwhile the Squirrels have signed on loan for a year one Shusuke Tsubouchi, 26, whose registration is held by Vissel Kobe. However, Tsubouchi has spent both of the last two seasons loaned out by Vissel - 2008 at Consadole Sapporo (who were relegated) and 2009 at Oita Trinita (who were relegated). An unlucky coincidence and nothing more, I'm sure. Anyway, Tsubouchi is a defender and looks set to be a - dare it be said - Yusuke Murayama utility figure. Great.
