Daigo Stars In First Iraklis Start

Former Squirrels star Daigo Kobayashi made his first start for new club Iraklis on Sunday, in a Greek Super League match against reigning champions Olympiakos Piraeus. Daigo has previously played just a few minutes as a substitute and indeed was taken off after an hour or so against Olympiakos, as he has not yet reached full fitness. But even so, he put on an excellent performance and is quickly becoming a favourite of the Iraklis fans, not least because it was Daigo's fourth-minute burst into the area that provoked a foul from giant defender Olof Mellberg and won a penalty. Romanian midfielder Bogdan Mara put away the spot kick and Iraklis went on to win 1-0, continuing their move away from the foot of the table.
