Just to confirm full details of the participation by Ardija's U12 team at the prestigious Arousa Futbol 7 seven-a-side tournament in Spain over the weekend, in which Omiya gave an excellent account of themselves. Having lost the first match in Group A against Sevilla FC, the Baby Squirrels bounced back to qualify for the knock-out phase thanks to victories over Sporting Gijón and local side EF Lalín. Ardija then eliminated Portuguese giants Benfica on penalties, before eventually going out to Inter Milan 3-2 in the Quarter Finals. Inter themselves subsequently beat Real Madrid 3-0 in the Semi Final and then won the tournament outright, thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Valencia in the Final.
