While the boss was on vacation.....

Omiya continued their woes at home with a 4-1 loss at the hands of Shimizu S Pulse. Daigo Kobayashi made a cameo appearance that warmed the hearts of all his former fans. Rafael opened his account with a goal in stoppage time after Lee Chun Soo was sent off with his second yellow card for arguing with referee and longtime Omiya nemesis Junpei Iida.

The team followed that up with a 2-1 win over Shonan Reserves in a practice match. Substitute Taisuke Miyasaki won the game late for Omiya after Shonan pulled even in the 70th minute. Jun Kanakubo opened the scoring for Omiya.

Omiya then ventured south to face the lone surviving J League ACL rep in Osaka when they faced off against Cerezo. Rafael scored the lone goal in torrential conditions to give Omiya the win and propel them up to 9th in the standings.

Omiya faced off against another J2 squad in a TM when they squared off against JEF Chiba in Chiba. Omiya claimed a 2-0 victory off of goals by Shin Kanazawa and Shintaro Shimizu. Lee Chun Soo did not appear in the game so Omiya opted to go with 3 trialists throughout the contest.

Keigo Higashi played for 77 minutes in the Japan U-22 friendly versus Australia U-22. Higashi did not factor in the scoring in 3-1 victory. Kim Young Gwon has left the team to join up with the Korean National Team for their two friendly matches next week.

Another Omiya defender, Shunsuke Fukuda had some good news as well as he tied the knot with a lovely 24 year old lass from Yamagata. Congratulations goes out to the pride of Misato Zenma Elementary School.

If you follow Furtho's tweets, you might have saw that Omiya offseason target Robson Ponte signed with a division two squad in Brazil to play out his golden years. Good luck to him I suppose.

Finally, Omiya has two weeks to prepare for the annual Saitama Derby. Omiya finds itself two full games against it's bigger Saitama sibling. Unfortunately for Omiya, the team who is designated the home squad has failed to win in any of the J1 matchups between the squads.
