Toshiya Miura Returns To J1

Former Squirrels boss Toshiya Miura has been appointed coach at struggling Vissel Kobe. Miura was on the staff under Pim Verbeek when Omiya originally joined J2 in 1999 and later had two spells in charge at Omiya Koen, leading Ardija to promotion in 2004. After two further years at the helm in J1, it was generally agreed that Miura had taken the club as far as possible and he left to take over at Consadole Sapporo, repeating the trick of getting promotion for the Hokkaido Owls in 2007. However, Miura was sacked following Consadole's immediate relegation last year and he has since been out of work. Kobe currently lie three points and two places behind Omiya.
