Kitano - From Swan To Squirrel

There will be competition for Koji Ezumi next season, with the news that Ardija have signed Albirex Niigata goalkeeper Takashi Kitano. The 27-year-old Hokkaido native joined Albirex after graduating from Sapporo University in 2003 and became the Swans' first choice in 2006. He was an ever-present in the league in the season just finished.

I liked what I saw from Ezumi, but depth is something that's always good for a club. Would Kitano be a starter?

That's a good question, Daniel. The feeling among Omiya fans is generally that Ezumi has done a pretty decent job and there are other areas of the team that need strengthening as a priority. However, Kitano is by all accounts highly rated by the supporters at Niigata and the fact is that he has been first choice for a number of seasons at a team which has finished higher up the table than Ardija. It's hard to be sure while we are still a long way from the start of the season but you'd have to make a guess that Kitano is favourite to be first choice.
